Field Trip to the College of Horticulture, Kolar
Grade 5 students of NPS OMR visited the College of Horticulture, Kolar, for an educational field trip that introduced them to the fascinating world of plants and cultivation.
Horticulture is the study and practice of growing plants, from understanding what they need to grow well to caring for fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other crops. It helps us understand how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and how they become an important part of our food and environment.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe plants closely and learn about their growth and care. Seeing different plants and understanding how they are cultivated helped them connect their lessons with things they encounter in everyday life.
A field trip like this also encourages children to be curious and observant. They can ask questions, discover new things, and understand concepts through direct experience. It helps build a stronger appreciation for nature and the people involved in growing the food and plants we depend on.
The experience also gives children opportunities to interact with their classmates, share observations, and learn together. These moments help develop communication, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility.
