A Journey Through Time: Grade 6 & 7 Explore the Museum!

At NPS OMR, we believe the world is our classroom! Our Grade 6 and 7 students recently embarked on an exciting educational field trip to the museum, where history, art, and culture leaped off the pages of their textbooks and came to life before their eyes. The day was filled with awe, curiosity, and the thrill of discovery.

The buzz of anticipation was palpable as students arrived at school, ready for their adventure. Dressed in their smart school uniforms, they carried not just their bags, but also a sense of wonder about the stories they were about to uncover. The journey to the museum was filled with excited chatter and guesses about the artifacts they would see.

One of the main highlights of the visit was the Ancient Civilizations exhibit. Walking through halls filled with centuries-old pottery, intricate jewellery, and towering sculptures, our students were transported back in time. They saw firsthand the tools, weapons, and daily objects used by people long ago, making their history lessons tangible and real. The whispers of “Wow, look at that!” and “We read about this!” echoed through the galleries.

To make the experience even more engaging, our teachers had prepared a Museum Scavenger Hunt. Students worked in teams, using maps and clues to find specific artifacts and answer questions about them. This fun-filled game had them eagerly searching every corner, not only fueling their competitive spirit but also sharpening their observation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. It was a joy to see them collaborate and learn together.

Another fascinating section was the Hall of Innovation, which showcased the evolution of science and technology. From vintage automobiles and early telecommunication devices to interactive science models, the exhibit demonstrated the incredible journey of human ingenuity. Our students were particularly captivated by the hands-on displays that allowed them to experiment with basic principles of physics and mechanics, sparking a new interest in STEM fields.

Throughout the day, our teachers and museum guides engaged the students in insightful discussions, encouraging them to ask questions and draw connections to their classroom learning. A special “Sketch & Note” activity was organized where students paused to draw an artifact of their choice and jot down their thoughts. This activity helped them appreciate the finer details, process the information, and create a personal souvenir of their visit.

The museum trip was a tremendous success, perfectly aligning with our philosophy of experiential learning. It was a day that moved beyond memorization to create meaningful, lasting impressions. Our students returned to school not just with photographs, but with a deeper understanding of human history and a ignited curiosity to learn more.

We look forward to many more such journeys outside our campus walls, helping our students explore, learn, and connect with the wonderful world around them
